How Does Ethernet Work?

Filed under: Cavalier Internet — admin @ 11:24 am

Ethernet is what makes local area network (LAN) communication possible. Ethernet technology gives each implement of a network a unique IP address, allowing for easy communication between computers and other electronic devices that are part of the network.

In order for many computers to use the network at once, lines are split into sectors, with a limited number of computers on each of these sectors. These sectors are then connected together with switches. These switches reduce network connections by only sending signals further out into more sectors if they need to go further. This is what makes Ethernet networking so efficient, as there is no unnecessary use of valuable broadband space.
