IP Phones

Filed under: VoIP — admin @ 9:53 am

VOIP telephone service can be enjoyed by having broadband Internet access and having the proper equipment. There are a number of solutions to bring VOIP service to your home or office.

One common way VOIP technology is being used is through the use of IP phones. These phones are specially designed to be used with a VOIP connection. In most ways, they are very similar to traditional house phones, except that rather than having a traditional phone line connector, the IP phones have an Ethernet connector.

These VOIP-capable phones plug directly into your Internet router, bypassing the actual PC itself. The actual computer is then not required to be used with the phone. The necessary technologies are self-contained in the actual phone, and connected to the Internet directly through the router.

What is VOIP?

Filed under: VoIP — admin @ 1:57 pm

Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP), sometimes called Phonom, is the newest commercial method of sending and receiving voice and data signals. Sometimes referred to as IP telephony, VOIP service allows the user to send and receive telephone calls through a broadband internet connection, rather than a traditional analog telephone line.

There are several benefits of using VOIP phone service over traditional phone lines, including a less expensive price tag, additional features, and higher sound quality. Newer VOIP technology converts analog voice into digital data “packets.” This “packet-switching” is the same method by which the internet is delivered to computers.
