Cavalier T1 PRI Services

Filed under: VoIP — admin @ 4:32 pm

In North America, most PRI services are made available through the use of T1 lines. A T1 PRI line consists of a total of 24 channels, which can be allocated to use as separate voice lines, or bandwidth. A full T1 line that is completely dedicated to bandwidth can provide up 1.54 Mbps of bandwidth.

T1 lines provide dedicated bandwidth, allowing for uninterrupted network and Internet service which in turn provides the most reliable connection commercially available. Basically, a T1 PRI data and voice line is leased by a business or individual, allowing them to receive PRI service over a reserved line. This is much more reliable than traditional “switching” methods, because it means that the bandwidth that has been leased will always be available to the leasee.
