What is VOIP?
Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP), sometimes called Phonom, is the newest commercial method of sending and receiving voice and data signals. Sometimes referred to as IP telephony, VOIP service allows the user to send and receive telephone calls through a broadband internet connection, rather than a traditional analog telephone line.
There are several benefits of using VOIP phone service over traditional phone lines, including a less expensive price tag, additional features, and higher sound quality. Newer VOIP technology converts analog voice into digital data “packets.†This “packet-switching†is the same method by which the internet is delivered to computers.
